Los Angeles, November 26, 2008 – Animal Behavior College (ABC) today announced that Steven Appelbaum, President of Animal Behavior College, was recently named the new editor of Off-Lead and Animal Behavior magazines. As editor he is responsible for selecting the magazine's content as well as reading and approving each article that's submitted. Appelbaum brings nearly 30 years of professional dog training and pet business experience, which has proven to be a welcomed asset to the publication.

“We are very excited to have Steven join the Off-Lead team,” said publisher Sally Lidick. “He will bring a focus to the magazine that we have not yet experienced. He has new and fresh ideas that should really enliven the publication.”

Off-Lead magazine is a national animal industry trade publication which is the only independent magazine written for professional dog trainers. Although their real focus is on dog training, Off-Lead does have other readers in various fields, including instructors, behavior therapists, groomers, exhibitors, kennel operators and other pet care professionals.

“I’m proud to be a part of the Off-Lead & Animal Behavior family and expect the magazine to be better than ever. I look forward to bringing a new approach that is even more relevant to trainers. Towards that end, we have already added a column dedicated to the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT), the largest trainer organization in the country. I’m also excited to work with an array of talented writers and am confident that readers will find the magazine more captivating than ever,” said Appelbaum

Aside from being editor, Appelbaum’s main focus is running one of the largest dog trainer schools in North America, Animal Behavior College (ABC). ABC is a national vocational college dedicated to animal-related career training. Their Dog Obedience Instructor Training program will soon be celebrating its ten-year anniversary with over 8,000 students enrolled.

In addition, Appelbaum is also a freelance writer and member of the Dog Writers Associaton of America (DWAA), a consultant and a lecturer. He also acts as an expert witness on dog-related legal cases and his opinion is highly esteemed in the dog training community. Appelbaum is also the author of ABC Practical Guide to Dog Training (2004 Howell), which to date has sold over 100,000 copies.

Appelbaum is honored to be named the new editor of Off-Lead & Animal Behavior Magazine and is excited about the opportunities it presents.
