Check Out Our LIMA Compliant Dog Trainer School Program!

LIMA stands for least invasive, minimally aversive training methods. LIMA is at the foundation of what we teach. In this we are not alone as dog trainer organizations like the Association of Professional Dog Trainers (APDT) also support this philosophy. When we upgraded our program in 2019, it included over 300 additional pages of materials along with additional training videos. Our enhanced curriculum was created to help us in providing all of our dog trainer students with an even better educational experience. Additionally, our new dog trainer program added materials on how to conduct and market remote dog training sessions, and how to market yourself with conventional marketing methods and tools in addition to digital marketing. This includes but is not limited to social media, Search Engine Optimization (SEO), pay per click (PPC) strategies and much more. Take a quick look at our new curriculum here.

Our Professional Dog Trainer Staff

Rather than offering hundreds of programs ranging on topics as varied as Accounting through Zamboni Repair, Animal Behaviour College offers animal related courses administered by working professionals with actual experience in the programs they help teach.  This means not only was our Dog Obedience Trainer Program written by professional dog trainers, but your program manager will have professional dog training experience.  We don’t just teach the walk, we walk the walk.

Curriculum – What Will You Learn?

Our Dog Obedience Instructor Training course is 11 stages long. The course covers a variety of topics including but not limited to; dog breed, behavioural developmental periods, nutrition, anatomy, learning theory, training tools and how to use them, dog training fundamentals, business principles and more. Why Hands-On Experience is Crucial

Learning to become a professional dog trainer is all about balance. Programs that only teach theory might result in you having a good understanding of behavioural concepts without knowing how to practically apply them. Programs that only offer practical experience without teaching students a proper behavioural theory can result in your not understanding how to best use your experience. The ABC program has both practical and academic components which is why it has been so successful for over two decades.

We have thousands of mentor trainers all across North America. This program is available in every Canadian province. We have over 18,240 graduates from this program . Click here to visit our locations page or call 1-800-795-3294 and speak with an admissions counsellor directly.

Study in Your Home and Help Dogs in Your Neighbourhood

The ABC Dog Obedience Trainer Program combines the flexibility of an on-line course with the efficacy of a hands-on program.  This course is designed for working adults and all those who as a result of busy lives, don’t wish to take a traditional brick and mortar program. We have fantastic Program Managers (PMs) to assist you during your course of study.  These PMs are all working professional dog trainers which is a valuable plus when taking a program of this type.
