When I was a child, I knew that I would be a dog trainer when I “grew up”. I especially wanted to train Lassie!
When I did grow up, real life led me in different directions. After I retired, I had the opportunity to train dogs at PetSmart.
I was certified by PetSmart and trained dogs at the store in Ithaca for over two years. I then took Dog Obedience at and graduated with honors from Animal Behavior College in California.
I also volunteer as a canine companion and dog walker at the Tompkins SPCA. And like most of you, I have owned and trained my own dogs all my life!
I believe that dog training should be FUN for you and your puppy or dog. I offer private dog obedience and behavior lessons in your home, at your convenience. I teach at all levels of training.
I use only positive reinforcement methods. My preference is to train YOU to train your dog because that meets one of my top goals of improving the relationship and communications between you and your puppy or dog. However, I will consider training the dog and transitioning the training to you afterward. Family members are welcome – kids can help with training!
