Susanne Schlueter

Dog Training – Novi, Michigan 48377

Born in Germany, a foreign work assignment brought Susanne’s family to the US in 2008. Drawn to all kinds of animals, she started volunteering at animal shelters, rescues, a low-cost spay and neuter clinic, as well as at a doggy day care facility.

In summer 2011, Susanne became head volunteer for dogs at DuPage Animal Care and Control in Illinois where she helped organizing a Structured Training And Reinforcement program (STAR) for shelter dogs. STAR aims to achieve a higher adoption rate by teaching shelter dogs basic obedience and manners which makes the dogs more appealing to potential adopters. Equally important, it provides much needed mental and physical stimulation for dogs in a high stress shelter environment.

This experience set the course for Susanne to become a certified dog trainer; she graduated with Honors from Animal Behavior College’s (ABC) dog training program and has also become a Canine Good Citizen evaluator. Since 2014, she offers private obedience training and teaches group classes at Canine Resolution, Waterford, MI.

In 2016, Susanne joined Comfort Care Veterinary Services working as Dr. Zinderman’s assistant. “Seeing how dogs rebuild strength and function after a traumatic injury or compromising underlying condition is a wonderful and very rewarding experience.”
