Santa Clarita, Calif., April 7, 2017 — Animal Behavior College (ABC) today announced that Andis Company, a Sturtevant, Wisconsin-based manufacturer of handheld tools used to trim, cut, curl, straighten and dry hair, has elevated its Silver-level sponsorship to Gold-level Plus, ABC’s highest sponsorship level, for the school’s certified Grooming Instruction Program (GIP). Andis will also award two “Rising Star Grooming Scholarships” of $3,200 each to be used for the cost of tuition to enroll in GIP. The award, which will be disbursed consecutively during the second and third calendar quarters this year, will be given to two aspiring grooming students who are not currently enrolled in the college and desire to embark on a dog grooming career.
“ABC and Andis share a passion for bringing quality education to groomers. It was only natural that we should take our partnership to the next level by outfitting ABC’s students with Andis clippers, trimmers and tools,” said Karen Formico, vice president of marketing for Andis. “ABC and Andis are cooking up some really exciting social media opportunities for existing students and those considering a career in grooming. From live grooming broadcasts to full scholarships to be won, there’s a lot to be excited about as we launch new social media promotions and contests in 2017.”
“We have been working with companies that support ABC through a variety of sponsorship opportunities for decades. Andis Company’s commitment to educating the next generation of groomers is amazing and deeply appreciated,” said Steven Appelbaum, president and CEO of Animal Behavior College. “This company clearly understands the importance and value of groomer education, and we very much look forward to working with them.”
For almost a century, Andis Company has designed and manufactured high-quality tools for animal groomers, barbers, shearers and other professionals. The family-owned and operated company is best-known for its electric clippers and many blade innovations. In 2013, Andis introduced ElectroGlide™ technology for animal blades that resists corrosion and provides a smoother and faster cut on all animal coats. In 2014, the company introduced the ShowEdge™ large animal clipper and expanded its line of professional pet grooming shears, clippers, blades, and trimmers. Andis also offers pet grooming products, which include brushes, combs, de-shedding tools, rakes and nail clippers. As part of the Gold-level Plus sponsorship, Andis will provide several items including tools, clippers, blades, breed guides, educational guides and newsletter articles for ABC’s GIP Student Welcome Kits.
The “Rising Star Grooming Scholarships” give pet grooming enthusiasts an opportunity to obtain the skills and training to pursue a professional pet grooming career. ABC and Andis will promote the scholarships using social media platforms including, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and YouTube.
As of March 1, 2017, ABC has graduated 2,284 students in GIP. Currently, there are 958 students enrolled in the program. ABC projects that this number will rise exponentially.
