Did you know that there are 16.4 million dogs and cats in Canada?  That breaks down to about 8.5 million cats and 7.9 million dogs.  What’s more, over 60% of households have a dog or a cat as a pet and the pet population is still increasing.  Canada is a pet loving nation which means Canadian’s care about their pets and are often willing to spend a great deal of money (and time) on their care.  In fact, the average Canadian pet parent spent almost $760 per year on the care of their pets. All of this equates to potential opportunities.  While no responsible school can or should guarantee employment after graduation, there is no denying that the opportunities in a country of pet lovers is clear and exciting.  This includes grooming! For many years students throughout Canada have been taught to “do what you love” or to “follow your passion”.   Becoming a groomer because you love making pets look good and because you might have artistic talent, allows you to combine a love of craft with a pragmatic vocation that might be able to earn a living from.
